About Retail ADV

Welcome to "The Retail ADV" ft. The Drouch and the Unnamed Friend. In 2018, I began documenting the fall of several local malls in Ontario Canada noticing that the horrible trend of dying malls was hiting Canada. After watching some of the YouTube pioneers of Dead Malls like Dan Bell, Sal, Unicomm Productions and Ace's Adventures, I decided it was time to get on board and start documenting dying malls, retail, historical and entertainment places in Ontario and Michigan before they were gone. The purpose of this channel is to capture those memories and preserve them for future generations to come.

Please note NO PROFIT HAS OR WILL EVER BE MADE FROM OUR VIDEOS.

About The Drouch

Well, I like to take long walks on the beach, sunsets....oh wait. This is not a dating profile. LOL.

Sorry, I'm married to my beautiful wife and have two kids.

My name is Matthew Durocher, AKA the DRouch.

I am a 37 year old with a degree in history and education from the University of Windsor, in Windsor, Ontario Canada.

About 10 years ago; since I love history, I began jotting down and taking pictures of retail I noticed was leaving the landscape. Since I live in Canada, I noticed places of my childhood like Zellers, Radio Shack, Biway, and Sears Canada all either leave or declare bankruptcy. However, who was documenting them leaving? Who was documenting them before they left? What was the history of these places?  In 2015, I discovered Dan Bell, who is the granddaddy of Dead Mall exploring. When Dan hit the scene, I began to realize this is a big problem and people needed to document it even more.  By 2017, I saw a local mall within my area also begin to suffer the retail apocalypses and decided to start filming spaces.  In 2020; with the world going to crap, I decided enough was enough and began researching and documenting malls on Ontario Canada seriously.

I launched the RetailADV in September 2020 to simply put out these stories of these malls, retail, historical places and attractions in Canada. The world around us is a wonderful place and we need to make sure that we enjoy it. Take pictures. Take Notes. Document things. One day, they will be gone and just a memory. Keep those memories alive.
